The Democrat's HC reform? Not really.
It should be noted that back in 1973, Richard Nixon proposed a national health insurance plan that exceeded what is currently being debated on, Ad nauseam I might add. Guess who opposed it? That's right, Ted Kennedy and the unions. Why would they want to do such a thing? They wanted it to be passed by a Democratic administration. The Democrats at the time wanted it all and were not satisfied with what they considered not enough.
The package back then would have covered everyone in the US and would have had an employer manadate stronger than the one currently being considered.
The progressives should also be aware that under the Ronald Reagan administration taxes were increased to protect the Social Security system.
President Reagan worked with Tip O'Neil to ensure that this was done. No one would believe that Reagon was more liberal than a Republican President, but nonetheless it was done. I should point out that Tip O'Neil was a Democrat who was willing to work with the Republicans.
The progressive public and pundits need to do some research before they speak.
note: I'm not stumping for anyone, but facts are facts.

Instead of creating intelligent policy, Obama seeks to solve problems by giving speeches and then holding events in celebration of his words.
