Natch. Predictable. First a yes, then a lightening fast 180.
No matter what Israel offers, the Pals reject. They do not want peace. They want the world to foot the bill and a real state of their own would stop them from blaming everyone for their 'plight'. They wouldn't know what to do with a real state. It would collapse within four months and there would be no one to blame but themselves.
update
The whole reason Israel is having proximity talks instead of direct negotiations is because the country is not willing to freeze construction in east Jerusalem. That the Palestinians would cancel negotiations due to announced future construction in east Jerusalem is a transparent ploy to get the Americans to pressure Israel into accepting their demands.
Unfortunately, Eli Yishai needlessly embarassed and angered the Americans, undermining Israel's position with the broker of the "peace talks" with the timing of his announcement. I don't believe for a moment that the timing was accidental. He should resign.

Instead of creating intelligent policy, Obama seeks to solve problems by giving speeches and then holding events in celebration of his words.
